Colleen G. Witt, 91, passed away on March 23rd in Baytown, TX. Colleen was born in Marion, ND on November 30, 1924, the daughter of Dewey and Cora (Bomberg) Baertsch. She graduated from Marion High School and attended Valley City State University. She married Richard J. Witt August 24, 1946 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, La Moure, ND. They lived in St. Paul, MN until Richard graduated from College of St. Thomas in 1947 after which they moved to Fargo and resided for the most par ever since. She worked publisher Brown and Bigelow before marriage and part-time for Tri-State Auction for “mad money” after the children had left home. Colleen was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and was involved in many parish functions. She was a warm, generous and loving person who took pleasure in caring for her family and had a great sense of humor. Colleen loved to play bridge, read, and shop. She traveled to Europe and Mexico many times. In her later years she and her husband, Richard, were AZ snowbirds. After Richard’s passing, three years ago, Colleen resided in Baytown, TX, where she was lovingly cared for by her devoted daughter, Mary. She is survived by one son, Jonathan (Linda), Cincinnati, OH, two daughters, Mary (Billy) Baytown, TX; Teresa Witt, Burlington, Vermont; seven grandchildren-Lorraine (Frank) Witt Antao, of Milwaukee, WI, Amy Witt of St. Louis, MO, Hillary, Margaret and Katherine Brewer of Baytown, TX, Andrew Hill of Columbus, OH, and Stewart Hill of Burlington, VT; four great-grandchildren; as well as sister-in-law Lorraine Witt Olson, Oakland, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sibling, and her husband of 60 years, Richard. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the American Red Cross.
