Hillsboro, ND— Corrine Rae Kunze, 62, of Hillsboro, ND died on May 27, 2016 after a long struggle with cancer at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home. Corrine was born March 8, 1954, in Fargo, ND, to Harold and Harriett Letnes. She grew up in Hillsboro and graduated with honors from Hillsboro High School in 1972. After high school, she graduated from Moler Barber College, moved to Virginia, and became a licensed barber. She eventually moved back to North Dakota and lived in Carrington, ND, for several years before returning home to Hillsboro in 1992 where she has lived ever since. She spent the majority of her working life as a self-employed barber and owned her own shop known as Corrine’s Clip Joint for over 34 years. She also spent many years working on farms, helping with the harvest, and driving truck. She married Bob Kunze on February 25, 2000, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, ND. She did the book work for the Kunze Trucking, Inc. after they were married. From a young age, Corrine was always an ambitious and adventurous person. She was President of the Carrington Chamber of Commerce and was instrumental in getting the Dakota Growers Pasta Company to locate in Carrington, ND. Corrine was a voracious reader, enjoyed playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. She cherished her time at Leech Lake, MN, and loved fishing. She had a fondness for nature, bird watching, and loved her many pets. She was active in AA for over two and half years. Corrine was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend. She was adored by her grandchildren and was very proud of each and every one of them. She will be greatly missed by anyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her husband, Bob; son, Matthew (Kristen) Doherty and their daughters Ava, Elyn, and Olivia of Plymouth, MN; daughter, Seina Freidig, and her daughters Grace and Madelyn of West Fargo, ND; two stepdaughters, Brandie (Deveryn) Malmlov and their daughter Raegan of Moorhead, MN; Miranda (Jason) Stach and their children Daniel, Ian, and Sydney of Moorhead, MN; her mother, Harriett Letnes of Hillsboro; her siblings, Sandy (Fred) Johnson, Deb Kritzberger, Rebecca (Tom) Bryl, Judy Tweten, and Tryg (Linda) Letnes, many dear in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Letnes, her infant sister, Donna Mae, her brothers-in-law, Ken Fossum and Lynn Kritzberger, and her nephew, Mark Fossum. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Hillsboro. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Corrine to the Hospice of the Red River Valley. Arrangements entrusted with Wildeman-Boulger Funeral Home.   8. Matt and Seina, so sorry for the loss of your Mom! I have many great memories of growing up as neighbors in Carrington. From our many backyard baseball games, babysitting Seina, neighborhood bike patrol, and lighting fireworks. Please know that your Mom was a special lady to many with a smile that lit up any room. Lifting your families up in prayer and may you find comfort in happy memories.

  12. I am very sorry to read that Corrine passed away. She cut my husband and son’s hair when she lived in Carribgton. She was always very friendly and simply a pleasure to visit with during those visits.
