Curtis Eugene Hellekson was born February 11, 1927 in Grand Forks, ND.  He was the son of Trygve Karsten and Clara Amanda Hellekson.  Curt left this world peacefully on Monday, January 02, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Battle Lake, MN, and under the care of hospice.

During WWII Curt completed coursework for High School early, and at the age of 17 enlisted in the Navy to serve his country.  Curt was a Pharmacist Mate in San Diego, CA.  He was honorably discharged on August 21, 1946.  Curt attended several years of college, but upon the death of his father, returned home to assist his family.

Curt married Donna June McDonald on July 14, 1951 in Grand Forks, ND.  They made their home there until Curt started his career as an Insurance Adjuster in Sioux Falls, SD.  During his career, he was transferred to Minot, ND, Mason City, IA, and finally Moorhead, MN, where the family still resides.  In 1992, Curt retired from the Fargo GAB office after 38 years of service.

Curt had many loves in his life; God, his family, friends, pets and the outdoors just to name a few.  He had a passion for hunting, especially ducks, geese and pheasant.

Curt leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Donna, his daughters, Debra Ann and Denise Marie, and his sister, Ardis (Marvin) Callahan of Mayville, ND.  There are also many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents, Trygve and Clara, his sister, Lorraine (Glen) Everson and his son, Craig Alan Hellekson.

    We are so grateful for the many joyful years that Curt was a part of our lives. We always felt so special, loved, and accepted in his presence. He was always so cheerful and fun to be around. We have wonderful memories of our time spent with not only Curt, but also each of you. We are forever thankful to Mavis for introducing your family to ours. Curt will be ever present in our memories.   6. Elfrida AzCurt was a very kind person. I remember visiting him and the family and having great times. I look at pictures now and then and wish I could get back to that area and visit all my relatives. Curt will be greatly missed as he joins his parents, sister (my mother) and son in Heaven.
