D. Duane Peterson, 80, Fargo passed away Monday, September 15, 2014 at Villa Maria Nursing Home surrounded by his family.

Duane was born July 10, 1934 in Lac Qui Parle, MN to Lester and Almira (Knutson) Peterson. He grew up in Boyd, MN before moving to Fargo. He graduated from Fargo Central in 1952. He went on to attend Concordia College before going to work for Dakota Plate Glass. He opened several stores for Dakota Plate Glass throughout North Dakota. He married Eileen Goetz on June 19, 1964 in Fargo, North Dakota. He was also involved in Commercial Land Development.

Duane was an avid fishermen, hunter and golfer. He loved going to the lake and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Eileen, West Fargo; children, Natalie (Tom) Lothspeich, Muscatine, IA, Jason (Ilene), St. Charles, IL; grandchildren, Tyler, Sarah and Molly Lothspeich, Sydney, Luke and Jake Peterson; sister, Marla (Donald) Lund, San Clemente, CA, 2 brothers, Jerome Peterson, San Diego, CA and Charlie (Toni Stedman) Peterson, New Richmond, WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.

  1. I lived in his home for a summer in 1980 in an interchange program.

    The first thing I remember from him is a fisherman’s cap he gave me as a present.

    He nicknamed me as Loui.
