Daniel Rollin McShane

August 31, 1984 - December 10, 2020

Daniel Rollin McShane of McKinney, TX passed away last Thursday. He was born August 31, 1984 in Fargo North Dakota to Thomas W. and Deborah A. (Soderling) McShane.

Dan graduated from Fargo South High School in 2003 before attending The University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND. Like his father, he crammed 4 years into 5! He was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and passionately cheered for the ‘Fighting Sioux’ of the UND hockey dynasty. At one point, his seat was behind the penalty box from the opposing team, scolding the misdeeds of the competition. In the Spring of 2008, he graduated with his business degree with an emphasis in accounting

In his professional career, he worked at Deliotte in Minneapolis, MN where he earned his license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He grew his career at Carlson Companies in Minnetonka, MN where he had the opportunity to visit India, Singapore, and China auditing for the firm. Most recently, he worked at The Crosby Group in Richardson, TX.

Dan met the love of his life, Natalie Ruth McShane, at a Halloween party on the campus of the University of Minnesota, where Natalie had attended school. At the urging of Natalie’s sorority sister and Dan’s high school classmate from Fargo, they finally had the opportunity to meet and talk! As fate would have it, they both arrived to the costume party dressed as characters from the movie, Christmas Vacation. It was a match made in heaven! Their first date was on Valentine’s Day, with dinner reservations borrowed from another high school classmate and their journey began!

Dan, his brother Patrick, and his Mom were all Green Bay Packer fans. The year they met, Natalie earned a spot as a cheerleader for the Minnesota Vikings, much to the chagrin of his father and brother! Despite the “friendly” rivalry, she stood tall in her duties and lead the team onto the field each week.

Dan and Natalie wed on 9-10-11 (well chosen, so never forgotten!) in Saint Paul, MN on a bright beautiful day filled with promise.

Dan and Natalie first settled in Minnetonka, MN, then moved to Carver, MN, and have resided in McKinney, TX for 2 ½ years (back home for Natalie, as she was born in Mesquite, TX)

Dan’s greatest loves included his partner in life and soul mate, Natalie, and their precious sons, Rory (6) and Dempsey (3).

He loved his Green Bay Packers, his loyal group of friends, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He enjoyed playing golf and his fantasy football leagues.

Survived by wife Natalie, sons, Rory and Dempsey, brother Patrick (Tiffany) McShane (Fargo, ND), and his mother Deborah McShane (Fargo, ND). Preceded in death by his father, Thomas W. McShane, grandparents Margaret and Rollin Soderling and Margie and William McShane.

He will be intensely missed and always in our hearts. We thank you for your love and support through many acts of kindness. As his father would always say, “We shall endeavor to persevere.”

We believe we live in our faith in God, and we will never forget his love for all.
