Darlene Enger

darlene enger
Darlene Enger, 78, of Fargo ND died peacefully surrounded by the love of Jesus and with loved ones by her side, on Sunday, February 21st, 2021.  A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date.     In her 78 years on earth, Darlene had a full life of joys, struggles, and losses, but most of all she gave and received riches of love.  She will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, sister, grandmother, Nana, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, and neighbor.  As her pastor said, she lived and died well.      Darlene Joann West was born the 4th child of Dennis and Melvina (Woods) West, on November 9th, 1942.  She grew up at various addresses in NE Minneapolis.  Darlene, along with her children Dawn and Roni, and her sister Delaine and her children Timothy and Debra, all survived the tornadoes that hit Minneapolis suburbs in 1965.  The house they occupied was completely destroyed.      On June 21st, 1968, she married DeWayne Enger.  Some time later, they bought a home and settled with their 3 daughters, in Spring Lake Park, MN.  In 1981, Mom, Dad, and youngest daughter Tara, moved to Fargo, ND.  They became members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, in 1982. Darlene held various jobs throughout her lifetime - the last being Dad’s loving caregiver, until she was no longer able to, due to her cancer diagnosis.  It will be difficult to fill her shoes, however; she taught her daughters well by example.      Mom enjoyed her coffee with milk, that had to be just the right color!  She collected teapots, but didn’t enjoy tea!  She loved flowers and birds.  She played card games and was a speed reader.  She was a great hostess and cook.  She took pride in having a clean home and was an excellent homemaker.  She ironed all of her clothes for years!  Mom was an all around beautiful, thoughtful, prayerful, encourager and loving gal.  She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by her “family” at Century Estates/Century Square.  Using one of her phrases “Yepper  Do”, Mom we miss you!      Darlene is survived by her husband, DeWayne, Fargo, ND; sister, Delaine Labelle (Bruce), Coon Rapids, MN; 3 daughters -Tara Griffin (Jesse), Fargo, ND; Dawn Enger, Fargo, ND; Roni Grindahl (John), Fargo, ND.  7 grandchildren - Trevor Enger, Evan Griffin, Kailee Blessum (Adam), Brady Sparks (Katelyn), Jacob Sparks, Casey Crandall (Trisha), and Zachary Crandall.  8 great-grandchildren - Ayden, Marlee, William, Cody, Christian, Coleson, Charlotte, and Crosley. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and in-laws.      Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and husband DeWayne’s  parents; 2 sisters - Marcella and Donna, brother Donald, nephew Mark and great-nephew Alexander; and sister in law Carol.      Arrangements entrusted to the care of Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.  On-line guestbook @ www.boulgerfuneralhome.com for memories and condolences. Darlene’s family would like to thank Sanford Hospice for their exceptional and compassionate end of life cares. Thank you hospice nurse Marissa for navigating the family through this difficult time, with love and grace.  Also, thank you for your excellent care Dr. Gupta and Alexis of Sanford Oncology and Sanford Nutrition departments.  And also, thank you to Comfort Keepers staff for their ongoing excellent cares for DeWayne. Interment will take place at 10:00 AM, June 21, 2021 at Fargo National Cemetery, Fargo, ND. Immediately afterwards, a Memorial Service and luncheon, from 11:00-2:00, will be held.
