Darlene A. Kiland, 86, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 15, 2007 at Eventide, surrounded by family.
Darlene was born to Bennie and Mabel (Loff) Bakken September 9, 1921 in Abercrombie, ND. She graduated from high school in Abercrombie and after attending Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND, she went to work at the Fargo Foundry. She married Earl Kiland on June 6, 1942. She joined her husband in San Antonio, TX during World War II before he was shipped overseas. They lived in St. Paul, MN and Aberdeen, SD and moved to Moorhead, MN in 1950. She worked as the bookkeeper for the family business, Kiland?s Office Systems.
Darlene was happiest when she was with her family, and enjoyed gardening, bridge, and volunteering at her church.
Darlene is survived by her four children, a daughter, Denese (Bob) Kruse, The Villages, FL; son, Lance (Kathy), Buffalo, MN; son, Kevin (Annette), Fargo, ND; daughter, Kimberly Trudell, Moorhead, MN; sister, Carole (Bill) Herzog, Naples, FL; 7 grandchildren, Kari (Eric) Barlund, Randy (Cindy) Kruse, Mick (Jennifer) Kruse, Bryant (Amy) Kiland, Lyndsey Kiland, Jessica Trudell, and Jake Trudell; and 9 great grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor, Gunnar, Sidney, Kendra, Haley, Madison, Koby, and Tanner.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Leone Gauslow, and brother, Burton Bakken.
Visitation: 5-7 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, and Friday, October 19, 2007 in the church one hour before the funeral service.
Prayer Service: 7 p.m. Thursday in Boulger Funeral Home
Funeral: 11 a.m., Friday in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN
