David Kolle

David F. Kolle, 82, Fargo passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center, Fargo.
David was born April 26, 1935 to Ferdinand and Mabel (Horn) Kolle. He graduated from Felton High School in 1953 before attending Wahpeton State School of Science where he was a Golden Glove boxer. David served in the U.S. Army as a Private first class where he was a tank driver.
He graduated from Traficante Accordion School, earning diplomas in sales and as an instructor and Robert Mitchell School of Accordion where he earned a diploma as an instructor. David then went into sales, selling accordions in San Diego, CA and Fargo, ND. He worked various construction jobs and on the family farm. He managed and taught accordion lessons at a music store on Broadway, Fargo for many years. David earned the National Ballroom Operators Association’s Outstanding Service award in 1967 and 1968 and the Entertainment Operators of America’s Outstanding Service award in 1970.
He owned a very popular band called the “Dave Kolle Show” for many years and had a song that went #1 for three weeks on local KFGO. He enjoyed playing the accordion, riding horses, and playing fast-pitch softball where he pitched for the U.S. Army through three championships and was his greatest thrill. David was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross, West Fargo, and gained spiritual peace with God through reading the bible. He also loved to fish, hunt, spend time with his family, and playing with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, David (LuAnn) Brakken, Horace, ND, Sheri Lyn (Robert) Mix, Tampa, FL, Dave (Rossana) Kolle, Huanchaco, Peru; two grandchildren, Marjorie Mix, Tampa, FL, Amulet Kolle, Huanchaco, Peru; brother, Ernest (Ardee) Kolle, Moorhead, MN; sisters, Veryle (Robert) McCulloch, Thunder Bay, ON, Canada, Wanda (Frank) Mills, St. Petersburg, FL, Violet Abraham, West Fargo, ND, Maysie (Brent) Aarestad, West Fargo, ND, Linda Lange, Rosemount, MN; sister-in-law, Donna Kolle, Fergus Falls, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Walt and Art Kolle; brothers-in-law, Jim Lange and Gary Abraham, and sister-in-law, Lee Kolle.

He will be missed, Danced many a Friday night to his music at the Moorhead VFW. The last time I heard him was when he played at a nursing home in Fargo and he told me that he remembered my husband and I as being one of the last couples to leave the floor for the evening.
Dave was a good friend, neighbor and loyal customer. I had lost track of him since closing my pharmacy and moving to Colorado. Sorry to hear of his passing. sincere sympathy to the family.

We are so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. Since September 2016, I have been cooking for him. He had so many dietary restrictions, I learned to read labels very carefully. My husband, who is a pastor, and I, would bring the food over, and visit with him, and always pray with him before we left. We will really miss visiting with him. It was our blessing, and privilege to get to know Dave! We will be forever thankful for the impression Dave has left in our hearts!
Always enjoyed visiting and dancing with Dave at the Red River Singles dances. In 2008, he shared his Elvis memorabilia and part of the Dave Kolle show with us at the Detroit Lakes Pavillion. Dave always enjoyed having fun. Thank You Dave. RIP.
I’m so sorry to hear about Dave’s passing. My condolences to his family. I’ve known him for the past several years at the cardiac rehab gym where we both worked out. His health hasn’t been the greatest for the past couple of years, but he managed to survive for far longer than his doctors predicted. I hope that he meets up with my uncle who passed earlier this year and that they have a jam session on dueling accordions. My uncle also loved playing an accordion.
