David R. Zacher, age 46, died on Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at ManorCare in Fargo, ND, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. David R. Zacher was born June 28, 1959, in Rugby, ND, the son of Eugene and Darlene Zacher. He grew up and attended school in Balta, ND, and graduated from Rugby High School in 1977. During his last high school years, David worked for the local radio station where he was known as ?Dave Zacher, the night time rocker.? He later attended Moorhead State University. David was united in marriage to Jaci Howard in 1986. They later divorced. David worked for the Holiday Station Stores for more than 11 years in Fargo, Devils Lake, ND, and Big Lake, MN. He worked as a route salesman for Farmer Brothers Coffee in Bismarck, ND from 1994 until 2001, and a route salesman for Wholesale Supply from May 2001 to October 2003. In November of 2003 David moved to Jamestown, ND to work for Frito Lay as a route salesman. He said he loved his days in Jamestown and greatly cherished the many people who touched his life there. After he was diagnosed with cancer in the fall of 2005, David moved to Fargo. He entered ManorCare in January 2006 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Throughout his life David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He especially loved spending his days fishing on the waters of Devils Lake with his friends and cousins. He also enjoyed photography, working on his computer, and cooking. Sharing his many talents with his family and friends was very important to David. His quick wit and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by many family members, friends, and customers. David is survived by his parents, Eugene and Darlene Zacher, Rugby, ND; his sisters, Karen (Gerry) Schumacher, Fargo, ND, and Jeanette (Dennis) Holland, West Fargo, ND; his brother, Dale (Yu-li) Zacher, DeKalb, IL; five nephews, J. J. Wiest, Ryan and Brandon Schumacher, Luke and Daniel Zacher; and his niece, Katie (Chris) Hanson. Memorials are preferred to Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
