Danny Shakeshaff, 79, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at his residence in West Fargo, ND.
Danny was born June 7, 1926, in Newport, Gwent, South Wales, the youngest of six children. He attended St. Mary=s School in Newport for Standard I-7. At age 18, he joined the South Wales army and served in India and Burma during World War II. In 1949 he immigrated to New York, where he worked at various jobs. In 1954, he started at Chevrolet assembly line in Terrytown, NY, where they made and painted auto bodies. He eventually became an American citizen.
On September 26, 1959, he married Anne Mattes from Winnipeg, MB, Canada. They lived in Yonkers and Mt. Vernon, NY. In 1986 Danny had quadruple bypass surgery, returned to work and retired in 1989. After retirement, he attended night school where he studied to receive his high school diploma. To be closer to family, they moved to Fargo in 1994.
Danny is survived by his wife, Anne. He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Linda; his parents, Albert and Mary; three sisters, Doris, Elizabeth and Mildred; and two brothers, Edward and Albert.
At Danny=s request, there will be no service. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred at Mount Hope Cemetery, Hastings On Hudson, NY.
