Dolores Hollenhorst
August 3, 1928 ~ December 8, 2014
Dolores was born August 3, 1928 in St. Joseph, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Anna (Knoblach) Zipp. She graduated from St. Cloud Tech High School.
She married Richard (Dick) Hollenhorst on October 24, 1950. After living in Helena, Montana, Devils Lake, Grand Forks, and Moorhead, they moved into their home in south Fargo in 1958, where she still lived at the time of her death. Dick passed away in 1987.
Dolores worked for many years as a library aide for Fargo Public Schools. Following retirement, she volunteered at The Village and the AARP Tax-Aide program. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crafts, refinishing furniture, doing crossword puzzles, and taking care of her Guinea Pig GusGus. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, and she’ll be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Dolores died at age 86 on December 8, 2014, in her home. She is survived by daughters Kathryn (Richard) Thomas and Margaret (Daryl) Klindworth, Fargo, and son Richard (Clara), Silver Spring, Maryland; grandchildren Sarah and Adam Klindworth and Chandini Hollenhorst; and sister Nell Kardash, Livingston, Montana. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters Marion Henz and Erma Socha; and brother Joseph Zipp.

Sandy & I wish to offer our condolences to Dick & Dolores’ family. The Fargo Hollenhorst’s were always a welcome summer sight at our Gull Lake home growing up, and at the Rochester house. Your mom was always super sweet to us as kids, and we enjoyed seeing all of you.
From our own experience we know that your mom’s absence will be a sadness for you all. We hope you can find joy in your memories of her and of your dad.
Brighton COWhat a wonderful heavenly angel He has called home in requesting the honor of Delores through His Heavenly Gates. Being a neighbor to Delores during my childhood days and more so when visiting her as an adult, she was a gem to live next to and to visit with! Always, always a smile and laughter was had when conversing with Delores. She lived so many years on her own after her husband Dick’s passing, caring for the home that she raised her family in and sustaining herself, her commitment to always being a friend, a good neighbor and a kind and caring soul, like a kindred spirit, a testament to her discipline and commitment to Christ. May God hold and comfort those that she left behind to live on without her physical presence. You must all know that she will always be a presence in your hearts and souls as her spirit and laughter will forever be in our hearts and memories…and I will always remember her love for flowers and Santa Clauses! Delores may you rest in peace…from a friend and neighbor forever and my husband who grew to know and love her visits too!

I had the pleasure of working with Delores as one of our volunteers here at the Village Family Service Center. I always loved her quick wit and her smile! She brightened the room when she walked in. I had worked with her at the Holiday Bazaar 4 days prior to her passing, and she was full of fun and had that twinkle in her eye. I will never forget our beloved Delores. My prayers go out to her family during this most difficult time. Use her memories to help you get through this! God bless all of you!
