Donald Donegan, 81, Fargo, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 in his home. Donald Donegan was born to James and Marie Donegan in Plankinton, SD on February 12, 1925, the 5th of 10 children. The family moved to Edgeley, ND in 1931. In 1940 they moved to Jamestown, ND where Don attended St. John?s Academy. He entered the service in 1943 serving in the Army?s 35th Transportation Corp. in the South Pacific until his honorable discharge in 1946. In 1949 Don married Helen Hagman in Fargo. They were happily married for 54 years until Helen?s death in 2004. Don attended Jamestown College for 1 year before continuing his education with Moler Barber College. He owned his own barbershop in Fargo for 23 years before going to work at the US Postal Service where he worked as a letter carrier for 20 years until his retirement in 1986. Don was very active in his church and community. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW, American Legion, Eagles, and AM Vets. He was active in Fargo?s fast pitch softball and Babe Ruth baseball. He was state commissioner for North Dakota?s 16-18 Babe Ruth Baseball and inducted into the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame. Don is survived by his four children; Steven (Janel), Rodger (Cheryl), Tracy (Lee) and Patricia (David), 11 grandchildren and his brothers; Francis, Bob and Vic, sisters; Mary, Patty, and Percy. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James Donegan, sister and his sisters Dorothy Donegan and Janice Richards. The Funeral Mass will be Monday, August 21, 2006, 10:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the church. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. Sunday in the church and one hour before the funeral in the church. Interment will be at Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
