Obituary

Donald J. Duval, 79, Fargo passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Essentia Health, Fargo.

He was born October 2, 1936 to Edward and Albertine (Savageau) Duval. He graduated from St. Benedict’s School in 1954 before enlisting in the U.S. Army.

Donald married Barbara Ohnstad on October 18, 1958. They moved to Seattle, Washington where he owned and operated a flooring store. They resided there for 15 years before returning to Fargo. He worked in the floor covering business, semi-retiring at 68 years old until his full retirement in 2011.

He was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed fishing, camping with friends and family and enjoyed spending time in Arizona during the winter with his in-laws. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne Duval, Hickson, ND and Jay Duval, Phoenix, AZ; granddaughter, Jessika, Phoenix, AZ; great-grandson, Marcus, Phoenix, AZ; 2 brothers, Arcade (Marie) Duval, Fargo, ND and Fern (Betty) Duval, Fargo, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barb, brothers, Gabby Duval and Roger Duval.

Funeral Mass: 11:00 Thursday, June 30, 2016 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Fargo with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M.

Burial: St. Benedict’s Cemetery, Wild Rice, ND.

    Don and Barb were always so nice to give us apples in the fall. I really missed her when she left the VA. Always loved the fishing stories! I am sure they are casting a few together in heaven now!
