Don passed away on May 4, 2015 at Sanford Hospital Palliative Care in Fargo at the age of 61.

Don was born on June 26, 1953 in Minot, ND, the son of Raymond and Helen (Krzeminski) Johnson. In 1958 Don’s family moved to Fargo, ND. He graduated from Shanley High School in 1971. Don joined the Air Force and served four years stationed in Germay and Arkansas. Upon his honorable discharge he then served in the Air National Guard for two years. He received his two year nursing degree from North Dakota State University and then moved to Corpus Christie, Texas where he obtained his four year nursing degree as a Psychology Registered Nurse. In 1980 he moved back to Fargo where he worked as a Detox Nurse for Clay County. He was an avid ping pong player and had a black belt in Karate and Tai Kwon Do.

His greatest joy in life was his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Helen Johnson. Don is survived by his sister, Margaret (Henry) Skolness of Moorhead, MN; and his brother, Ron (Linda) Johnson of Watertown, SD; and his nieces and nephews.

Sorry to learn of Don’s passing. I was a neighbor of Don’s from the old neighborhood where we all grew up and played as kids. My thoughts and prayers are with Don’s family.

I played ping pong with Don. While very skilled and knowledgeable about the game, his passion was contagious.
