Donald D. Montplaisir, 75, rural Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in MeritCare Palliative Care Hospital, Fargo.
Donald Duane Montplaisir was born on December 20, 1931 in Fargo, ND to Wilfrid and Julia (Rivard) Montplaisir. He graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1949 and attended Interstate Business College for two years. He enlisted in the Air Force and did his basic training in St. Louis, MO. He was stationed in various places including Alaska and Georgia during the Korean Conflict. He was discharged in 1955 and came home to Fargo.
He started working at the Fargo Forum as a typesetter and eventually moved into data processing. He married Yvette Allard on December 29, 1955 in St. Eustache, Manitoba, Canada. He continued working for the Forum for 38 years, retiring in 1993. Donald was also active running the Forum Federal Credit Union from its inception and for many months following his retirement.
They spent winters in Mesa, AZ and moved from Fargo to Lake Maud, MN in 1998. Donald was active in the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He stayed active throughout the years enjoying his bowling league, watching sports, playing cards with Yvette, and especially loved time spent with family at the lake.
Donald is survived by his wife, Yvette; his children, Janet Olson, Fargo, Peter Montplaisir (Helen) Fargo, JoAnne Seeger (Nathan) Underwood, MN, Marc Montplaisir (Stacey) Firestone, CO, Jill Bryan (Jon) Puyallup, WA, Carol Zinke (Curtis) Fargo, ND; nine grandchildren, Trevor and Rachael Olson, Justin Montplaisir, Tyler and Jake Seeger, Blake Montplaisir, Sean Polson, Logan and Nicholas Bryan; 2 brothers, Robert Montplaisir (Lucille) Fargo, ND and Roy Montplaisir, Mesa, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George, and sister Bette Haug.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of the Holy Spirit
Burial: Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo, ND
