Donald Michael Spieker, 63, of Moorhead, MN and West Fargo, ND passed away peacefully with his loving sister, Debra, by his side, on Tuesday, December 1, 2015. He was born on March 26, 1952 to Ambrose and Arlos (Olson) Spieker in Moorhead, MN. He grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School. Donnie attended Moorhead Technical College where he earned a degree in Automechanics.

Following graduation, he worked at S & L Tire. Donnie then went into business for himself. He owned Moorhead Welding and Alignment and later started Superior Customs in West Fargo operating it until his retirement in 2007 after 19 years of service.

In 1975, Donnie’s first son, Matthew, was born in Fargo. In 1987, Donnie was united in marriage to Cindy Richard at Holy Cross Catholic Church in West Fargo. The couple made their home in West Fargo where they raised their son, Michael.

Donnie enjoyed a successful Sprint Car career and was an avid fisherman. He brought his friends and family joy with his sense of humor and pranks. Donnie’s sons were the light of his life and their favorite pastime was going to the dirt track races together.

He is survived by his son, Michael; siblings, Doug (Cher) Spieker, Derald Spieker, Debra (Kim) Kinslow, Denise (Richard) Eskildsen, and Diane (Michael) Rix; and many other relatives and friends.

Donnie you were always such a charmer. I once saw you charm our grandmother and made her laugh and blush. You will be very missed. Hug your mom and dad for me. We will all miss your humor and your laugh. God Bless.

I would like to express my condolences to the Spieker family for their loss, I remember Donnie as a fun loving person whom I enjoyed being around, even though it has been at least 30 years since I have been in contact with him, I will always remember the times, and sometimes the trouble, we found ourselves in North Moorhead in the “old day’s”.

Prayers for your family and friends who were part of your life. We were friends in school, he was such a charmer and joker like mentioned. We have not been in contact for many years. But he always made me laugh. Spent some time when young on the phone with him in those days. Rest in peace Donnie. Hope they have a car for you to fix!

Condolences to the Speaker family, Donnie was one my favorite friends in North Junior High and high school, we always somehow survived our adventures, after the military service I stayed out here in sunny Cal but tried to see him when I came home for visits. I miss the friendship I had with Donny but someday we’ll be laughing together again. God Bless

    Doug, Michael and Donnie’s Family,

Just today, while watching an episode of Knoxville Raceway Dirt Dreams, I googled Donnie Spieker and found this sad news. My deepest sympathy to all of you.

I met Donnie in 1972 when I moved to West Fargo and became a neighbor of Bob Johnson. That led me to become involved in sprint cars and I became a friend of Donnie’s. I have so many stories from those years that I could write a book…and as you probably remember Doug…most of it would not be approved on this page.

Donnie and I had not seen one another since 1976. I was blessed to have run in to Donnie at Volusia County Speedway in February 2012 just as he was moving from Florida back to ND. He was so excited that Michael was flying to Daytona to meet him for the 500. As we left Volusia he gave me a hug that I will place on the top of the list of memories I have of your brother and dad. In those few years that I knew Donnie I have a lifetime of memories.
