Doug LaPash, 86, of Moorhead, Minnesota passed away on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Villa Maria under hospice care.  Doug was blessed to have been surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. Douglas Edward, son of Edward and Anna LaPash was born on January 19, 1929 In Fargo, North Dakota.  He attended Moorhead Senior High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1946.  He completed his high school work and received his diploma while serving at Geiger Field in Spokane, Washington.  Doug served as an aviation mechanic and completed his service with the 39th, 40th and 41st fighter squadrons in the Pacific theatre. He earned an Honorable Discharge at Camp Stoneman, California in 1949. Doug was united in marriage with Beverly Jean Thompson in 1951 and together they raised three children, Candice Bowlsby (Bob) of Dallas, Texas, Ross (Beth) of Denver, Colorado and Tim (Patty) of West Fargo, North Dakota.  Also surviving are seven grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, sisters-in-laws Rita Gravalin of Fargo and Peggy Bassitt of Fargo.  Mr. LaPash was preceded in death by his parents, a stepmother, a sister, and an infant son.  Doug loved working in the yard, playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, telling stories and doing occasional magic tricks. Doug retired in 1991 after many years of loyal employment with Northern States Power Company/Excel Energy. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.     I was so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. He was a wonderful person and I was glad to see his picture with the whole family from a few weeks ago.

    I was so sorry to hear of Doug's passing…I was shocked when I received Peg's Christmas letter this evening. Am feeling so badly that i missed his obituary in the Forum, I surely would have come in for the visitation. Doug was always such a kind man and had a funny sense of humor, I always got a kick out of him. Bless you all and I ask for God's peace to cover you during this time of grief.
