Dr. Frank Melton Dr. Frank M. Melton, formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, died peacefully on March 14, 2005 in Wilmington, Delaware, where he and his wife Louise recently relocated. Born in Louisville, KY in 1913, Dr. Melton earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. During WWII he served for five years in the U. S. Public Health Service. After completing his residencies in dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania and Duke University, he practiced medicine in Fargo, ND at the Dakota Clinic. During his 31 years of practice he served as Chief of Staff at both the former St. John and Dakota Hospitals, as well as President of both the N.D. and mid-west regional dermatologic societies. Dr. Melton was a committed community and church leader. He served for several years on the planning committee for the Winter School of Theology, which later became the nationally recognized ACommuniversity@ held each at Concordia College. He and his wife, Louise, held leadership positions at St. John Lutheran Church, where they were members for over 50 years. Dr. Melton had a wide range of interests, including photography, international cuisine, fishing, ecumenical dialogue, reading, and international travel. Above all, his kind, generous and humble nature will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Louise; sons Frank (Lynn) Melton of Blue Springs, MO, and The Rev. Fred Melton (Claudette) of Wilmington, DE, and five grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent in memory of Dr. Frank M. Melton to The University of Louisville School of Medicine HSC, Student Scholarship Fund, 132 E. Gray St., Louisville, KY 40202. There will a Visitation at the Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo on Monday, March 28, 7-9pm. A Memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church on Tuesday, March 29 at 11:00am.
