Obituary

Edmund “Donnie” Albrecht, 70, of Moorhead, MN formerly of Fargo, ND passed away on Saturday, March 30th at Essentia Health in Fargo after a year of battling cancer (multiple myeloma). Ed was born December 24th, 1942 to Edmund A. and Florence (Rueb) Albrecht in Eureka, SD of German-Russian heritage. He grew up on a farm near Leola, SD attending Washington Country School before he moved into town and attended Leola Independent School for a few years. He later moved to Oakes, ND where he attended high school and worked for the family-owned cream station and area farmers. Ed graduated from Oakes High School in 1960 participating in basketball, baseball, and band. He went on to attend Valley City State University and joined the National Guard. Ed married his high school sweetheart, Sharon (Rindahl) on March 9th, 1963 in Oakes, ND. The couple settled in Fargo, ND and moved to Moorhead, MN in 2011.

In Fargo, Ed worked at Broadway Pizza, Mathisen Tire, and Nabisco from which he retired after a 34 year career in sales/management in 1997. He started as a salesman, was promoted to an account rep and then branch manager of the Fargo Sales Branch. He and Sharon attended Messiah, St. John and now Atonement Lutheran Church, all in Fargo. Ed enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, golfing, hunting, playing cards at Amvets, western TV shows/movies, cooking, and attending Bison athletics as a Bison Teammaker. Summer weekends were spent enjoying the outdoors while camping, grilling, fishing and boating at Meadow Lake Campground.

Ed is survived by his wife, Sharon, and 3 daughters, Elissa Albrecht (Fargo), Elayna Emin (Fargo), and Mindy (Dave) Beerends (Waukee, IA); two grandsons, Brandon and Ethan Emin (Fargo); a sister, Peggy (David) Dohn (Grand Forks); a sister-in-law, Joann Weber (Mesa, AZ) and several other family members.

Bemidji MnSharon & Family. I know this is a very sad time for you and for all of us but we have to remember we were blessed to have spent the time we did with such a great, great man. Only words at this point could sum up Ed. Competitive, Caring, Strong, Knowledgeable, Understanding, Humorous, Loving, Dedicated. I could go on but Ed was truly an example to all of us on how we should live life. Be kind and do things for others before doing something for yourself. Ed hired me 27 years ago and played for practical jokes on me then anyone I ever seen it is know wonder at times I did not do what he asked. I will Thank him and remember him for ever to believe in me and give me the chance with Nabisco. Take care! Bob & Jill Anderson.

Vancouver WashingtonHeaven just received a very good man. I will be forever indepted to Ed for the things he taught me. His tutoring, mentoring, and patience helped shape me and many others who worked with Ed. His love for family, his faith, and work ethic are values any one should inspire to. Work ethic — There was no way any one could out work Ed Albrecht. The guy amazed me and any body that went shoulder to shoulder with him or as Ed put it, asses and elbows. If anybody was a friend with Ed Albrecht you now know how priceless that friendship was. Joyce and I send our sympathy to Sharon and all the family in this difficult time. The greif will pass and you know where Ed will be waiting. In faith, Larry and Joyce Humphrey
