Edward Jehlik, 79, Fargo, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Edward was born on March 14, 1934 to John Michael and Frances Anna Jehlik in New York, New York. He graduated from high school in 1952 and then served in the Navy for 22 years, where he achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.

Edward and Helen Frances Platz were married on December 21, 1962 in Great Lakes, IL after meeting in the Navy.

Edward enjoyed traveling and often traveled around the country by car visiting family and friends. He was an active member of several Naval organizations. Edward was an avid animal lover and had many pets over the years. He also supported the Fargo-Moorhead Humane Society.

Edward is survived by his sisters, Rose (Sis) and Florence; brother Joseph; daughter, Ann; son, John (Tanya); grandchildren James (Cari); John Michael; and Raelyn; and great-grandaughter Virginia Grace.

Edward was preceded in death by parents, John and Frances; wife, Helen; sister Frances (Cookie) and brother, John.
