Edward Jundt

Edward Jundt, 84, of Fargo, ND, died May 11, 2015 at the Veterans Administration Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Edward was born August 18, 1930 to Joseph and Margaret (Goetz) Jundt in McHenry County on a farm eleven miles south of Berwick, ND.   He attended country school in Berwick until his family moved to Rugby. In 1948 he worked for Boeing AirCraft in Seattle, Washington until he joined the Army in January 1949. In 1951 he worked on an oil drilling rig north of Rugby.   He married Bernadine Volk August 20, 1951 at Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby. The Army drafted him back in October 1951, had him spend 80 hours with the 101^st Airborne, then shipped out to Okinawa for 20 months.   After his discharge in 1953, Edward worked at the Coast to Coast Store in Rugby until moving to Pembina to manage and later owning the store there. While living in Pembina, Edward was very active in the community serving as American Legion Commander, President of the Lamoure Memorial Golf Course, Vice President of the Community Club, President of the Gun Club, served on the City Council, and served on several boards: Museum, KCND TV and Assumption Catholic Church. He sold the store September 9, 1963 and began working for Motor Coach Industries (MCI) in Pembina on September 11, two days later. He became a foreman until 1966 when he became a service rep, and in 1979 a service supervisor.   In 1984 Edward and Bernadine moved to Roswell, New Mexico to work for TMC until moving back to Pembina and working for MCI until his retirement in 1994. Edward and Bernadine moved to Fargo shortly after his retirement. He started helping setup the new Kmart store on 13^th Avenue South and continued working for them until he retired at the age of 80 in 2010. He remained a lifelong member of the American Legion. Edward and Bernadine celebrated their 60^th wedding anniversary in 2011. Edward is survived by his wife Bernadine; daughters Charlotte (Rick) Feldman of Fargo, Marilyn (Bill) Hughes of Moorhead, sons Robert (Debbye) of West Fargo, son Roger and fiancé Sally (Roerick) of Fargo; grandsons David, Jared, Evan, Dustin; granddaughters Amanda, Lesley, Alexis, Nikki and Kelli; sisters Anne Burckhard of Minot and Julia Brossart of Grand Forks, sister-in-law Barbara Jundt and brother-in-law Frank Keller of Rugby and many other family members. Edward was preceded in death by his parents; son Timothy, half-sister Elizabeth Medford, half-brothers and their wives Alois (Jackie), Anton (Eva) and Mike (Anna) Jundt; half brother Kasmer Jundt; brother Valentine (Walter) Jundt, sisters Hilda (Mike) Axtman and Rose Keller; brothers-in-law John Burckhard and Frank Brossart; and several nieces and nephews.
