Eileen Sologuk

Eileen Sologuk, 94, died Friday, Aug 5 at Edgewood Vista, Fargo. Eileen was born on May 23, 1922 in Jamestown, North Dakota to Martin and Ann Graven. After graduating from St James Academy she went on to attend Jamestown Business College.
On June 10, 1946 Eileen married Harry Sologuk in Jamestown. They first lived in Jamestown and later moved to Valley City. A career change relocated the family to Devils Lake and in 1965 they moved to Fargo where they continued to reside.
Eileen’s primary love was being a stay at home wife, and mother to her three children. Once the children were all of school age, she returned to the work force, retiring as Office Manager at Shirley-Onstad. While Eileen enjoyed her career, her greatest joy was spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Her heart was always full, her door always open and her love everlasting. Truly a grand lady!
She is survived by her daughters: Cathy Lucius, Plymouth, MN., Liz (Wayne) Christianson, Moorhead, MN., and her daughter in law, Sally (Nels) Backman, Fargo, ND. Also surviving are her six grandchildren: Megan (David) Wohlwend, Brian (Kristina) Lucius, Nate (Kristen) Lucius, Matt (Martha) Christianson, Katie (Al) Yablonski, Brynn (Lee) SchergerSologuk. Also blessing her life are her 15 great grandchildren: Emma, Luke, Ben, Grace, and Ryan Wohlwend, Ava and Preston Lucius, Kate and Owen Lucius, Sam, Reid and Cain Christianson, Annie and Joe Yablonski, and Sa’ryne SchergerSologuk. Eileen will also be missed by her sister and dear friend Mary Tscharner.
Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years Harry Sologuk, her son Michael (Sally) Sologuk, her first grandson Nicholas Sologuk, her parents and four brothers Gerald, Tom, Eddie, and Fr. John Graven.
A funeral Mass celebrating a life well lived will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverview Place in the Chapel, 5300 12th St S, Fargo. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Eileen’s family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the management and staff of Riverview Place and Edgewood Vista. Mom was able to live the past 15 years in your care and we are grateful.

What a treasure your mom was to your family. So many moments to remember and some to give you a hearty laugh. She will be missed by many friends and family.
I worked at Riverview Place when Eileen and Mary resided there. They were fun ladies and so gracious! My sympathy to Liz and entire family. It was a pleasure to know all of you.
I will be forever grateful to Eileen for the beautiful example of a lived faith that she was for me during my teenage years! Truly a blessing! May she rest in peace!

My condolences to Cathy, Liz, and families. I have many wonderful memories of times spent with your family back in our high school days, and beyond. Your parents were so gracious and kind, and fun to be around! Your Mom was steady and smart, and there was always a twinkle in those Irish eyes! May God grant you peace and comfort in the days ahead. Eileen was our neighbor on 9th Street for many years. Both my husband and I enjoyed chatting with them. She was such a sweet, caring person and a very thoughtful neighbor. I also helped in the care of Nicholas and was so impressed with the support he was given by his family. The entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. I know you will miss Eileen, such a grand, lovely lady. My best to Sally and Brynn.
