Obituary

Elaine Beyer
Hillsboro, North Dakota

Elaine passed away unexpectedly on May 1, 2008 while vacationing in Arizona.

Elaine Koch was born on June 3, 1940 in Glenwood, MN, the daughter of William and Maude (Eastberg) Koch. She grew up in Kensington, MN and graduated from Kensington High School. Elaine was united in marriage to Ed Beyer on June 6, 1958 at Nora Lutheran Church near Kensington. After their marriage they made their home in Moorhead and Elaine worked at the Fargo Clinic. In 1960 they moved to Hillsboro and Elaine worked for Arnie Sorum at the Oil Company and Dairy Bar and also at the Marsden?s Fairway Grocery. She began her career at the Hillsboro Medical Center in 1967 and worked there for nearly 34 years until her retirement.

Elaine was very active in her community where she was a charter member of the JC?ettes, a member of Our Savior?s Lutheran where she served as a Sunday school teacher, council member, and member of WELCA. She also served on the Hillsboro Ambulance, the Harmony Homemakers, and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Elaine loved spending time shopping, cooking and baking for her family, playing cards and golf, and attending sporting events with her husband. She was also the #1 fan for the Hillsboro Burros only missing 5 games in 37 years. Elaine supported the Burros for many years and thought they had an excellent coach. (good looking as well!) Elaine will be remembered for many things, but most importantly for her love of family. Her main concern was to make sure that everyone was happy. She gave tirelessly of herself. If love could have saved her, she would have lived forever.

Elaine is survived by her husband, Ed of Hillsboro; her daughters, Tammy (Dave) Nelson of Mayville, ND; and Deb (Marty) Fetch of Council Bluffs, IA; her grandchildren, Brad Nelson, Lisa (Isaac) Risbrudt, Craig (Fiancee Sara) Nelson, Molly Nelson; Carisa (Don) Powers; Sammi Fetch and Marcus Fetch; her great grandchildren, Caden Risbrudt, Kellan Risbrudt, Kolbey Powers, and Kynzie Powers. Also surviving are her siblings, Ronald (Karen) Koch of Cottage Grove, MN; Pam (Roger) Swenson of Detroit Lakes, MN; and Gayle (David) Schnell of Sisseton, SD; her sisters in law, Mavis Olsen of Alexandria, MN; and Sandra Seekon of Brainerd, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
