Elena Rodvold

elena rodvold

Elena Nicole Rodvold was born without heartbeat on Wednesday, September 18th, 2013, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo to Sara and Alex Rodvold of Fargo.

Our loss is Heaven’s gain. Our beautiful little angel was born with wings that carried her straight into the arms of Jesus.

In addition to her loving parents, Elena is survived by her grandparents, Donna Wood (Wahpeton), David Shilling (Fargo), Jeanine and Steve Rodvold (Fargo); maternal great grandmothers Dorothy Wood  (Parshall), Joyce Shilling (Ogden, Utah);  aunts and uncles, Neva Shilling (Wahpeton), Emily Shilling (Fargo), Zach Rodvold and fiancé Emily Shafer (Minneapolis) and a large loving extended family.

We wish to extend our gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff in the birthing unit at Sanford Medical Center, to photographer Melissa Warren of Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep and our pastor and friend John Fisher for their comfort, kindness and care during a very difficult time.

A memorial service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo at 4:00 PM, Monday, September 23rd, 2013. Memorial contributions can be made to Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep a nonprofit organization that provides the gift of remembrance photography for parents suffering the loss of a baby at https://www.nowilaymedowntosleep.org/donate/.

You don’t know me. I read about your daughter in Sunday’s paper. I too lost a baby girl almost 5 years ago (This Oct). Sanford (Meritcare at the time) was wonderful and so was Boulger. This is something that no parent should ever experience, at any age. Reach out to people and talk about your experience. Talk about your daughter. Cherish those photos you have (I too used NILMDTS) and know that with time it never gets easier, but you learn to manage the pain better. I wish I could give your family a big hug and let you all know, that with time, you will heal.
