Elizabeth “Beth” Joan McGarvey Dronen, 47, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, formerly Fargo, ND, passed away at home Friday, July 19, 2013.

Beth was born June 12, 1966 in Jamestown, ND to Richard and Flora (Nagel) McGarvey. 

Beth attended Holy Spirit Elementary School and graduated from Shanley High School in 1984.  She was a cheerleader for both Holy Spirit and Shanley. Beth graduated with a B.A. in finance from Moorhead State University and a MBA from Regis University. She worked at Community First Bank-Fargo before moving to Minneapolis, where she continued her career in banking. She later moved with her family to Colorado where she worked for Pediatric Medical Group.

Beth was dearly loved by her family. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Beth is survived by her son Tyler of Highlands Ranch, CO, her parents Richard (Dick) and Flora McGarvey of Fargo, and siblings Rose (John) Skroch of Courtenay, ND; Barb (Ron) Larson of Alexandria, MN; Dave (Jodi) McGarvey of Big Lake, MN; Mary Dissette of West Fargo; and Dan (Jeanne) McGarvey of Old Orchard, ME. She is also survived by her godmother Patricia Dunbar of Waukee, IA, many nieces and nephews, and her dog, Molly.

    I am so sorry to hear of Beth’s passing! My mom called to tell me as she saw her obituary in the paper.
    Beth was always such a fun person and sweet to the core! I have many, many great memories of sleep-overs and all the fun we had in middle and high school!
    What a beautiful guardian angel that you now have in heaven to watch over all of you!!

    I was a classmate of Beth’s at Shanley. We shared many good times drinking Tab and watching soap operas at your house during “study hall”. She had a gentle nature and she was proud to be a Deacon.

  8. Today I went through some photos and found some of Beth and myself. Beth, as well as your family, allowed me into your lives and I am so ever grateful. I have many memories of Beth. She was a special friend. Thank you God for lending her to all of us and let her great smile continue to shine on all of us. My sympathy goes out to two wonderful parents and her siblings. I could tell by our conversations that she was still the beautiful, kind person she was in our Shanley days. I could feel and hear the pride she felt as she spoke of her son Tyler.     I am so sad for this loss of Beth, I will miss everything we went thru together in our lives. There is no words to describe the sadness and total shock when I learned Beth had passed.Just in the last couple years we had reconnected through facebook and was looking forward to seeing her when she came back to Fargo to visit.I recently shared with Beth how extremely blessed I had her and her family in my life growing up because I was at their home everyday after school.I had a very difficult childhood and her parents took me in and gave me a safe place to go.I will always cherish our friendship.Rest in peace my dear friend.
