Elmer “Skip” Leothan Olson, 90, died February 9, 2015, at Rosewood on Broadway.
Skip was born December 18, 1924 in Moorhead, to Elmer and Eleanor Olson. He served in the Pacific in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Verna Schuman and they made their home in Fargo. He worked for Advance United until his retirement.
Skip was an avid walleye fisherman and spent as much time as he could fishing Minnesota Lakes, especially Franklin.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Verna; children, Steven (Lenore) Olson, Comstock, MN, Andrea (David) Haug, Hendrum, MN, Valerie (Darwin) Dahl, Richmond, MN, and Jill (Jeff) Zaun, Buffalo, ND; grandchildren, Chris (Holly) Haug, his favorite granddaughter, Sarah (Adam) Maasjo, Tim (Courtney) Haug and Tony, Anders, Axl and Austin Dahl, and great-grandchildren, Jackson, Skyla and Max Maasjo, 3 sisters and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and son-in-law.
Skip’s family wishes to give a special thanks to the loving staff at Rosewood on Broadway.
A private family service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
