Elmo Nelson, age 88 of Fargo, died Friday, March 9, 2007 at ManorCare Health Services, Fargo.
Elmo was born on August 13, 1918 in Sharon, ND to John and Ida (Anderson) Nelson. He worked for the WPA building bridges in North Dakota until he entered the US Army, serving during WWII. Following his discharge he returned to North Dakota and was employed with Coca-Cola and then worked for Cashway Lumber for 28 years, and retired from Radford Window and Door in 1984. Elmo then spent the next 20 years of retirement enjoying metal detecting and going to casinos with his family and friends. He married Florence Van Erem on August 3, 1940 in Moorhead, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; brothers, Gordon and Morris; his sister, Phyllis and his great-grandson, Ryder Helland.
Elmo is survived by his children, Sharon Stach of Helena, MT, Diana (Phillip) Lein of Vergas, MN, Richard (Dee Ann) of Aberdeen, SD, Debbie (Mike) Alverson of Fargo, Jeanne (John) Walters of Fargo; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and his twin brother, Ira (Esther) of Hemet, CA.
Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 13 at 11:00 am at Boulger Funeral Home
Visitation: Monday, March 12 from 4-6 pm at the funeral home and
one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo.
