Elsine Augusta Jacobson, 95, passed away Wednesday October 7th, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Moorhead, MN.
Elsine was born December 13th, 1913 in Hawley, MN to William and Marie (Olsen) Elsholtz. Her family first farmed, then later were in the farm implement business. She went to school in Hawley through 11th grade when her family moved to north Minneapolis where she graduated from North High School. She then studied bookkeeping at Minneapolis Business College. She worked for Western Transportation Co. in Minneapolis until 1939 when she married J. Luther Jacobson and moved to Fargo, ND. There, she worked at Hart Motor Express until 1946, when her first child was born. After that, she was a homemaker and also helped at the family business, the Fargo Toggery, a clothing store on North Broadway. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school for over 20 years and always in a circle, many times as the leader. She also volunteered at St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliary.
Elsine is survived by her five children. Marie (John) Leseth, Georgia (Wayne) Pris, Kathryn (Kenneth) Lien, John (Cindy) Jacobson and Mark (Monica) Jacobson.
Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren: Carey (John) Baker, Michael (Sandra) Leseth, Andrew (Suzy) Pris, Anne (Jason) Crimbchin, Jeremy (Kelly) Pris, Kirsten Lien, Michelle (Levi) Erdmann, Derek Lien, Jacob (Morgan) Lien, Matthew (Lauren) Jacobson, Andrea (Drew) Korschot, Kaitlynn Jacobson, Luke Jacobson and Hunter Jacobson. Eight great grandchildren surviving are: Ashley Baker, Samantha Baker, Andrew Leseth, Thomas Pris, Alexis Pris, Elle Crimbchin, Riley Pris and Marit Erdmann.
