Eugene "Gene" Jensen

Gene passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo surrounded by his loving family. Eugene Louis Jensen was born on January 31, 1946, the son of Denton and Enez (Kimber) Jensen in Wadena, MN. He grew up in Henning, MN and moved with his family to Fargo in 1957. Gene received his education in Fargo and continued in Wahpeton, graduating from the State School of Science. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1965 until 1967 where he was stationed in the Dominican Republic. Following his discharge he returned to North Dakota. Gene was well known throughout the years from his work at Held Beef Industries in West Fargo, where he was a meat cutter, and later at Stieger Tractor and Sugar Sand Boats. He was united in marriage to Darlene Jensen on March 5, 1993 and they made their home in Fargo since that time. Gene loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. Many memories were made camping and fishing, working on cars, and playing guitar. Gene is survived by his wife, Darlene of Fargo; his children – Mike Jensen, Brian (Lisa) Jensen both of Fargo; Stephanie Wald, Derik Wald both of West Fargo; Terry Mackner of Fargo; Jason Jensen of Minneapolis, MN; his step-sons – Jason (Georgia) Jensen of Fargo; and Josh Jensen of Wolverton, MN; his siblings – Isabelle Knutson of Henning, MN; Carolyn (Dave) Flink of Fargo; and Bette Seward of Fargo; and also 10 very special grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers – Harold, Stanley and David; and his sister, Bo Severson. VISITATION: 3-5 PM Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the funeral home on Monday FUNERAL SERVICE: 10 AM Monday at Boulger Funeral Home and Celebration of Life Center in Fargo BURIAL: 3:00 PM Monday at Girard Cemetery near Ottertail, MN
