Eugene Paulsrud

Eugene Paulsrud Hillsboro, North Dakota Eugene passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at the Hillsboro Medical Center under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley and his loving family. Eugene R. Paulsrud was born on August 9, 1944, the son of James and Viola (Aronson) Paulsrud in Halstad, MN. He grew up on the family farm near Halstad and graduated from Halstad High School in 1962. Eugene was united in marriage to LuVerne Lien on December 14, 1963 at the Wild Rice Church near Twin Valley, MN. They made their home on the farm where they raised their family and farmed for many years. Eugene retired from farming in 1995 and they moved to Hillsboro in 2004. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2004 and fought a courageous battle for the past 3 years. Eugene was a long time member of the Halstad Lutheran Church, the Halstad Rife Club, and the NRA. He loved camping, collecting antiques and guns, going to auctions, and hunting. Eugene is survived by his loving wife, LuVerne of Hillsboro; his children, Kevin (Lori) Paulsrud of Hillsboro; Mardi (Michael) Schlichtmann of Fargo; and Bruce (Tracie) Paulsrud of Rantoul, Ill.; and his grandchildren ? Jamie, Jessica, Derek, Jadin, and Kianna Paulsrud; Kayla, Morgan, and Adam Schlichtmann; and Andrew and Elizabeth Paulsrud; and his mother, Viola Paulsrud of Halstad. He is also survived by his sisters and brother, Wanda (Roland) Wall of Harwood, ND; Judy Christianson of Hendrum, MN; Randy (Lorie) Paulsrud of Halstad; and Nancy Paulsrud of Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
