Eunice Kirkeby

Eunice Kirkeby, age 88, of Hillsboro, formerly of Sutton, ND died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Hillsboro Medical Center in Hillsboro. Eunice Hanson was born in Pekin, ND, the daughter of the late Albert and Karen (Stromme) Hanson. She attended rural school near Pekin. She married Stanley Kirkeby in 1944 and they farmed near Sutton until 1970 when they moved to Hillsboro. She was a manager of the Red Carpet Apartments for many years. She has been a resident of the Hillsboro Nursing Home for several years where she was the champion speller. She is survived by her daughter Judy and Henry Dykema of Grant, MI and grandsons Erik Dykema of Clifton, NJ, and Karl Dykema of Grand Rapids, MI. Other survivors include her sister-in-law Mildred Kirkeby of Cooperstown, ND and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Stanley, infant daughter, Susan Kay, sisters: Clarine Jacobson and Ione Bjornson, brothers: Joel Hanson and Leland Hanson. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Mabel Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund in Sutton, ND or Hospice Red River Valley of North Dakota.
