Evangeline "Ann" Schweitzer

Ann passed away on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo at the age of 86.

Evangeline M. Baumgartner was born on December 25, 1925, the daughter of Frank and Aloysia (Eberle) Baumgartner on a farm near Burnstead, ND. The family lived there until 1932 when they moved to Edgely, ND. Evangeline was united in marriage to Balzer “Bill” Schweitzer on October 9, 1942 in Dickey, ND. Bill served in the Unites States Army during WWII where he was stationed in Ft. Leonard Missouri. They made their home in Missouri until Ann returned to North Dakota and worked in Jamestown until her husband’s discharge. Together they farmed in the Berlin, ND area for seven years, moving to Fargo in 1954, where Bill and Ann both worked for NDSU.  Ann was employed in the Chemistry Lab for nine years. She later worked as a bartender at the Bowler and the Flame Tavern. When her husband became ill, Ann took care of him until his death in 1994. Following his death, Ann worked for the Dakota Boys Ranch in Fargo until her retirement in 2009.

Ann is survived by her son, Joseph (Sandra) Schweitzer of Park Rapids, MN; her granddaughters, Leisha and Jennifer Schweitzer; two great grandchildren, Janakaye and Joseph; and two great-great grandchildren, Mason and Madden.

She is also survived by four brothers and three sisters- Alfred Baumgartner of  Dilworth, MN; Joe (Audrey) Baumgartner of Dickey, ND; John (Marianne) Baumgartner of Valley City, ND; Will (Dee Dee) Baumgartner of Fargo; Cecile (Les) Becker of Windsor, CO; Mary McGregor of Fargo; Margaret Kocher of Glenwood, MN.

Ann was preceded in death by her, husband, Bill; her siblings- Barbara, Tony, Pius, Eddie, James, Victor, and Myra.
