Evelyn Margaret Galt passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 16, 2014 at Bethany on University in Fargo ND.  She was born June 28, 1915 in Bordulac, ND to Percy and Hilda Fleming and was the oldest of 9 children. 

Evelyn graduated from high school in Bordulac at the age of 15.  She married William Elton Galt in 1941 and they farmed near Melville until they retire and moved to Carrington in 1975.  Evelyn remained in their duplex following Elton’s death in 1985 until she moved to Fargo in 2006.

Evelyn was a life-long gardener and continued growing hybrid hibiscus and moth orchids after her move to Fargo. Evelyn excelled at all types of needlework, starting quilting at age 9.  She made at least 100 quilts and members of her family are proud possessors of many of them.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Carol (Curt) Guilbert, Austin, TX, and Karen (Jim) Stewart, Fargo, ND; granddaughters Theresa (David McMonigal) Guilbert, Cincinnati, OH, Dawn (Danny) Ness, West Fargo, ND, and DeAnn (Dan) Hall, Las Vegas, NV.  She is also survived by 5 great grandchildren Emma, Abby, and Maddie McMonigal, and Sydnie and Spenser Hall; sisters Connie Moreland, Beverly Slater, and Keithal “Patty” Amdahl all of Los Angeles, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Elton Galt, son Joel E. Galt, her parents, and siblings Dorothy “Dot” Juhnke, Jeanne Uzelac, Lois Carroll, Percy Fleming Jr, and baby Phyliss Fleming.
