Evelyn Thompson

Evelyn M. Thompson, 91, died Friday, May 27, 2005 at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND, formerly of Walcott, ND. Evelyn Marie Thompson was born August 1, 1913 at home in Barrie Township, Richland County, to Halvor and Annie Groff. She attended elementary school in Barrie and graduated from Leonard High School, Leonard, ND. She attended colleges at Mayville, ND and Valley City, ND. She taught schools in Ashley, ND, also Colfax, ND and Nansen Township in Richland County. Evelyn married John (Jack) Thompson on September 12, 1934. They lived in Helendale Township near Leonard, ND. Later moved to Walcott, ND, where they continued farming. Jack passed away November 22, 1977. She continued living at Walcott. She was an active member of the Sons of Norway, The Richland Lutheran Church and its A.L.C.W. She spent many days quilting with the ladies until she had a stroke and entered Bethany Nursing Home on February 2, 2001. Evelyn is survived by a son, Jerome (Arlene) Thompson, Walcott, ND a daughter, Marlene (Leslie) Rieger, Walcott, ND, 6 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, Lynette (Myles) Girodat, Amanda, Andrew and Alyssa, Leeanne (Dan) Girodat, Laura, Tara, and Marshal, Heidi (Todd) Foertsch, Alec, Brogan and Caleb, Mark (Holly) Rieger, Matthew and Charlie, David (Shari) Thompson, John and Nicholas, Steven (Olive) Thompson, Shannon, Theresia, Ozzie and Jessie. Evelyn was preceded in by her parents, husband, 5 sisters and 2 brothers. The Funeral for Evelyn is Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 11:00a m at the Richland Lutheran Church, rural Walcott, ND. The Prayer Service will be held at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo, ND Monday, May 30, 2005 at 7:00pm. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00pm at Boulger Funeral Home and one hour prior to the funeral at Richland Lutheran Church on Tuesday.
