Florence E. Lovas

Florence passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home under the care of her loving family and Hospice of the Red River Valley at the age of 90.
Florence Bjelde was born on July 4, 1918, the daughter of Christ and Christine (Quam) Bjelde, in Georgetown, MN. She grew up in Georgetown where she attended grade school. Florence moved with her family because of her father?s work on the railroad and graduated high school from Finley, ND. After graduation she moved to California where she lived and worked for two years. She returned to North Dakota and was united in marriage to John Lovas on October 31, 1941. They made their home near Blanchard where they farmed until his death in 1965. Florence moved to Hillsboro and later to Fargo, ND where she worked at North Dakota State University for many years. She returned to Hillsboro where she lived at the Kiwanis Apartments. Florence entered the Hillsboro Nursing Home in January of 2008 where she enjoyed all the staff and activities. Florence was a longtime member of Blanchard Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and member of the WELCA. She also was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Fargo while living in Fargo.
Florence is survived by her loving children, Von Da Lee (Dennis) Grandalen of Wahpeton, ND; Larry ?Butch? (Jackie) Lovas of Blanchard, ND; Mary (Kenneth) Beckman of Hillsboro, ND; and Warren Lovas of Wahpeton, ND; 8 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband, John; and her son, Lynn.
VISITATION: 5-7 PM Monday, April 20, 2009 at Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro ? and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday
PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Monday at Wildeman Funeral Home
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro
BURIAL: Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro
