Florence Myxter, age 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Innovis Hospital with family at her side. Florence Knudtson was born on September 14, 1914 in Shelley, Minnesota where she also grew up and attended school. In 1933 she graduated from Halstad High School. Following high school she worked at various jobs in the Halstad community. She met Leo Myxter and they married in Texas on October 11, 1942. Upon Leo?s return from service during World War II, they moved to Balfour, North Dakota where they farmed and raised their two sons, Leo, Jr. and Richard. After retirement from farming, they lived in Towner, Washburn, Velva, and Casselton. Florence most recently lived at Pioneer House in Fargo where she had many friends. Florence loved her years on the farm and often shared stories about milking cows, her large vegetable gardens, canning and freezing food for the winter, baking, cooking and entertaining the neighbors. She was an active member of the Balfour Lutheran Church and the American Legion Auxiliary in Butte, North Dakota. Florence enjoyed fishing with her family and friends. She loved flowers and her green thumb earned her community recognition more than once. Florence was a bingo wizard and a faithful fan of the Minnesota Twins. Many of Florence?s reminiscent moments included music. She enjoyed singing, watching her husband perform in a band, dancing and listening to Lawrence Welk. Florence is survived by her two sons, Leo (Sue) Myxter Jr., Fargo, and Rick (Carol) Myxter, Mechanicsburg, PA; her sister, Gusta (Milt) Nielson, Joplin, MO, eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are her husband, Leo, four sisters and three brothers.
