Florence Tingum

Florence (Flo) Alvina Tingum, 91, Moorhead, MN died Friday, January 21, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead.
Florence Alvina Hegseth, daughter of Fredrik and Annie (Sylte) Hegseth, was born April 17, 1919 on their home place near Wyndmere, ND. The youngest child, she attended a country school through the eighth grade. Florence married Oscar Tingum October 1, 1938, in Minneapolis, MN and they farmed near Wyndmere, ND. In 1940 they purchased a farm near Walcott, ND where they raised their seven children. They moved into Walcott in 1972. Her husband Oscar passed away March 22, 1990. Florence remained in Walcott until 2004, when she moved into assisted care, and later to Serenity Home.
Florence loved her family dearly. Her greatest enjoyment was being surrounded by family and friends, always welcoming them into her home, making sure no one left hungry. Florence was a member of the Walcott Ladies Aid. She had a passion for reading and was very appreciative of all the cards and letters sent her way. She also looked forward to playing cards with her nieces, nephew, and grandchildren.
Florence is survived by her children, Orvin Tingum, Walcott, ND; Alice Gowin, Breckenridge, MN; Maynard (Darlene) Tingum, Federal Way, WA; Inez (James) Dawson, Boise, ID; Nancy Tingum, Federal Way, WA; 8 grandchildren, 1 step-grandson, 16 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her dear friends Lois and Robbi. The family is very appreciative of the wonderful care she received from her friends at The Hospice of the Red River Valley.
She was preceded in death by her husband Oscar, her daughters Lorraine and Ione, brothers Olaf, Lars, Ragnvald, Anders, and Andrew Hegseth, sisters Inga (Hegseth) Jordheim, Molly (Hegseth) Syverson, Gina (Hegseth) Syverson, and step-grandson Patrick O'Flaherty.

I’m sorry for the loss of your sweet mother. I first met Flo when my mother, Helen Bender, moved into Serentity Assisted Living. She was such a good sport and always interested in my Mom. We enjoyed visiting with her as she always had a surprising and funny comment to make. Helen died June 25, 2009 so now Flo and Helen will meet again in heaven.

Nancy I just saw that your mother has passed away. I am so sorry! But what a wonderfully long life she had! Still hard to say goodbye though. Please accept my sincere condolances! And I apologize that I did not attend a service but it is 5 to 11 on Thursday and I am in Fargo at work. So sorry. I see you live in WA now. I hope you like it. I moved back to ND

So sorry that we won’t be there with you but know that we are there in thought and prayer. The last chapter has been written in the family tree and we are now the old generation. Your Mom and Dad are back together as they should be and your Mom’s suffering is over. Our love to all of you.

I first met Flo when my Mother, Nona Jordahl was a resident of Four Seasons assisted Living. My Mom was there only a few months, then went to Eventide. She passed away in 2007.
Then I was reacquainted with Flo when I worked as a care giver at Senerity. I got to know Alice an Orvin. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of Flo’s family. God Bless.
West Fargo Grandma–you were a truly wonderful person who always showed everyone how much you cared & loved them in many different ways-no matter what. All of my memories will be treasured forever–playing cards w/your grandkids & great-grandkids(you were a tough Golf player!) wearing silly hats & glasses @ Halloween, your cooking & baking( even if we just ate-you would always try to feed us more!) I really will miss our good-bye kisses & hugs more than anything else. You will be greatly missed~I love you~
