Frank L. Fisher, 79 formerly of Fargo, ND, passed away Sunday, September 23, 2007 at the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon, ND.
Frank was born on July 28, 1928 to Monica (Wilhelm) and Anton Fischer, the sixth of nine children, in Moorhead, MN, where he grew up and attended school. After completing school he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1944 and served in the Pacific. On May13, 1950 he married Evelyn Schwinden at St. Mary?s Cathedral in Fargo.
He was employed by Pepsi Bottling Company in Fargo, Fairmont Foods as a route driver in Moorhead, Fargo Street Department and North Dakota Highway Department. He retired in 1986. He lived in rural Glyndon, MN for a time after retiring, moving to Fargo and then to the Veterans Home in Lisbon. Frank played softball in the Fargo-Moorhead area as a young man and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was especially keen on card games such as whist, cribbage and pinochle and while he was at the Veterans Home he was very fond of Bingo.
He is survived by his four children, Marie (Ed) Mars of Dilworth, MN, Gary of Fargo, Barb (Mark) Altringer of Litchfield, MN, Julie of Port Orchard, WA; 12 grandchildren, Gwen, Edward III (Angie), Erik and Michael Mars, Crystal (Jason Martodam), Michelle and Burt Fischer, Andy, Jeff and Rebecca (Jeremy Leitzen) Altringer, Elisha (Andrew Lawman), Nicole Eggebratten; 4 great-grandchildren, Cole, Casey and Ashley Martodam, Makayla Lawman; brother, Jene and sister, Patty (Alvin) Mueller of Colorado.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or the North Dakota Veterans Home in Lisbon.
Visitation: Sunday, September 30 from 5-8 pm at Boulger Funeral
Home, Fargo and one hour prior to Mass in the church
Prayer Service: Sunday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass: Monday, October 1 at 12:00 noon at St. Mary?s Cathedral, Fargo.
Interment: Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo.
