Frederick K. Bruun, 87, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015 at Sanford Health ER, Fargo. Frederick Kermit Bruun was born November 17, 1927, to Fred and Clarice (Grove) Bruun, in Tynsid TWP., rural Climax, MN. Kermit was baptized and confirmed at the Sand Hill Lutheran Church, Climax, MN. He graduated from the Climax High School in 1945 and after graduating he was drafted and served two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge from the military, he married Lorraine Koppang on November 5, 1947. The couple farmed for several years in rural Climax, MN. In 1949, they moved to Crookston where Kermit worked at the Coast to Coast Store, and also the management of the GTA Elevator. In 1952, they moved to Blanchard, ND where he managed the Blanchard Farmers Grain Co. In 1969 and 1970, he worked as the office manager for Bertsch Trucking in Hillsboro, ND and in 1973 he became manager of the Equity Elevator of Hillsboro. In 1977 he went to work for Schoenrock Construction. In 1979, his family moved to Bemidji, MN and he worked in Sales for Dondelinger Chevy/Buick, and in 1980 he accepted the position as Credit Manager for the Bemidji Clinic until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement, Kermit served as board member of the Bemidji Senior Center and the Adult Day Care of Bemidji, Sons of Norway and also was a member of the American Legion and Eagles Club of Bemidji. Kermit served on many boards and organizations and as chairman of the Traill County Crop Association, Hillsboro School Board, Trustee of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Hillsboro and served on the Board of Business and Council at Calvary Lutheran Church of Bemidji, MN. He is survived by his children: Kay (Brenda Zarn) Bruun, Vergas, MN, Curtis (Michele) Bruun, Omaha, NE, Kent (Cindy) Bruun, Crookston, MN, Lanette (Todd) Satrom, Gardner, ND, brother Harley Bruun, Bandera, TX, Gerald (Lorraine) Bruun, Parkers Prairie, MN, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine, son Leslie, his parents Fred and Clarice Bruun and sister-in-law, Mary Lou. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Memorial Service: 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 29, 2015 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro with visitation starting at 1:00 P.M.

  7. Our sympathies to your family’s. I am Lester Koppang’s daughter. Jeanne. I was saddened to hear of Kermit”s passing. He was a wonderful man, there were many fun family gatherings and celebrations we enjoyedv together. I will inform Lester of this news, Your parents were at my parents when my younger brother passed away as an infant in 1958 it meant so much to my parents, then in 1988 when my oldest brother passed they were there, again when my mom passed, they have always meant so much to us. Prayers are lifted up to you and Lester is doing well he is going to be 93 and is a resident at the Bloomington Masonic home. He has his faculty’s he just can’t see due to immacular degeneration. I know he would be there if he could. Love and hugs to you all.

  11. So sorry to hear about Kermit. We always loved Kermit and Lorraine. They were so kind and gentle. We will miss our cousins. God’s peace be with you all and may they rest in the loving arms of Jesus.
