Frieda Schauer

Frieda Schauer, age 96, of Leonard, ND died December 12, 2013 under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley in Fargo.

Frieda was born June 22, 1917 to John and Katherine (Mauck) Riegel near Willa, ND.  In 1924 her family moved to a farm near Mott, ND where she attended rural schools.

In 1937 she married Adolph Schauer of Havelock, ND and they made their home on a farm near Havelock.  In 1944 they moved to Regent, ND and in 1965 they moved to Bismarck, ND where she volunteered at Pride Inc., Med Center One Hospital, Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center and at her church, Good Shepherd Lutheran.

In 2002 she moved to an apartment in Leonard, ND until 2010 when she entered Bethany Assisted Living Center at Fargo, ND.

Frieda is survived by son, Norman, Henderson, NV; daughters, Grace (Bob) Breezee, Park Rapids, MN and Virginia (Roger) McDonald, Leonard, ND; sister-in-law, Lucille Riegel, Bemidji, MN; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph, of 53 years, son Lester, daughter-in-law Eugenia, two grandchildren, Douglas and Brent, five brothers Jacob, Fred, William, Emmanuel, and Leopold and three sisters, Bertha, Lydia, and Magdaline.
