Garfield ?Gar? Thomas
Fargo, North Dakota

Gar passed away on Monday, October 8, 2007 at his home in Fargo.

Gar was born on March 12, 1933 near Aneta, ND, the son of Archie and Mildred (Ellingson) Thomas. He grew up on the family farm and received his education in Aneta. Gar was united in marriage to ReNae Johnson in 1953 and they had three sons, Scott, Michael and Timothy. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1956. After his discharge they moved to Fargo where he owned and operated service stations in the area during the 60?s and 70?s. In later years he owned and operated Thomas and Sons Trucking Service in Fargo. Gar was united in marriage to Lucy Fischer in 1980.

Gar was a friend to many. He loved spending time attending auctions ? buying and collecting toy tractors, and restoring old cars. He enjoyed the Rollag Steam Threshers Reunion each year, and spent hours with his sprint cars and the races.

Gar is survived by his sons, Scott (Kathy) Thomas of Fargo; Michael Thomas of Buffalo, MN; and Timothy (Renee) Thomas of Fargo; his 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; his sister, Paulette (George) Lacher of Fargo; his step daughter Brenda Hakanson of Savannah, GA; his 3 step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald and Gordy; and his sister, Claudette.

VISITATION: 5-7 PM Thursday at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo and also one hour prior to the service on Friday

PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM Thursday in the funeral home

FUNERAL SERVICE: 10 AM Friday in the funeral home

BURIAL: 2:30 PM Friday at Silent Hill Cemetery near Aneta
