Obituary

Garth Stanford Cofell was born on Sept 9, 1939. He died at the age of 74 on Friday, March 28th at his home under Hospice care. Garth was the youngest of three children born to Arnold and Lorree Cofell (Meiers) in Minot, ND. Upon moving to Fargo, Garth finished out his education with Fargo Central High School (1957), Dakota Business College and, later in life, NDSU.

Garth’s 50 years in the work force included a turn in the US Navy aboard the USS Robert Green, Butler Machinery, Prudential Insurance, Fargo Forum, and NDSU Career Center .

Garth loved being outdoors gardening. He enjoyed and took pride building and working with his hands, including building his family’s home in Fargo. He spent as much time as possible with family and friends at the family cabin on Cotton Lake near Detroit Lakes, MN. Garth was always willing to lend a hand or an ear and enjoyed talking with those who would in turn lend him their ear. He was quick with advice and a smile.

Family was very important to Garth. Garth wed Loretta Tollefson of West Fargo on a sultry September 7, 1962, at the Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo. He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta; their four children; Kari Cofell (Fargo, ND), James Cofell (Rochert, MN), Wayne Cofell (Rochert, MN) and Daryl Cofell (Sioux Falls, SD); and his brother, Bruce Cofell (Tucson, AZ); and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lorree Cofell (Meiers) and his sister, Crystal Maxwell (Lyle).

West Fargo N DMy sincere sympathy to you in the lose of Garth.

I remember him at Prudential being very precise, responsible and intelligent. He was also capable of a few practical jokes to make work more fun.

My thoughts and prayers are with you his family.
