Gayle DeAnn Pladson, 77, Fargo, ND passed away on March 23, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center under palliative care.
Gayle was born November 1, 1938 to Ludvig and Aida (Thompson) Strand in Mayville, ND. She grew up in Hatton, ND and graduated high school from Hatton High in 1956.
Just weeks after graduation on June 30, 1956, she married her true love, Gil Pladson, and they moved to Fargo, ND, where they spent the rest of their lives. Gayle worked for 27 years in various positions in patient services at Meritcare Medical Center. She was known for being a sweet and caring individual and always had a smile on her face. In each department she worked she made many friends and her gentle approach made her a stabilizing force in the office.
Her sweetness was seen at home as well. Gayle loved taking care of people and did not sit down for a holiday meal for over 60 years. She enjoyed a full house with as much family as could join in for each occasion. She treasured those times and found it hard to say goodbye to her family, walking each of them out to their cars, while Gil suggested she run alongside the cars to say goodbye. Gayle was a precious tender soul who will be remembered for her caring, love, and gentle disposition.
She is survived by her children, Robin (Richard) Costain; Kevin (DeAnn) Pladson; Tamara (Joe) Seifert; Daren (Laura) Pladson; her beloved grandchildren, Allison (Ben) Schneider, Brett (Maggie) Costain, Breann Seifert, Melissa (John) Seifert, Kylee Seifert, Olivia (Brook) Wollschlager, Sydney Pladson, Betsy Pladson, Abigayle Pladson, and Ryley Pladson; great-grandchildren, Adelaide, Stella, Lily, Landon and Minnie, sister; Cathryn (Gene) Thompson; brothers, Wayne (Cathy) Strand and Clyde Strand.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gil in 2014 which contributed to her broken heart. The family finds great comfort in knowing they are reunited in heaven.
Memorials preferred to Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo.
Gayle’s family would like to thank the staff of the Sanford ICU and her special caregivers while in palliative care.
