Genevieve L. Marsden Hillsboro, ND Genevieve L. Marsden, 95, died at Bethany Nursing Home in Fargo, ND on Sunday, January 25, 2009. The funeral is 11 AM Saturday, January 31st, 2009 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Hillsboro. A prayer service will be held Friday, 7 PM, Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo. Visitation will be Friday from 5:30-7:00 PM at Boulger and one hour prior to the funeral at St. Rose. Burial will be at the St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Genevieve L. Marsden was born on May 13, 1913 in Sheldon, ND to Joseph and Leona Spiekermeier. She graduated from Sheldon High school and Interstate Business College. While working at a bank in Hendrum she met her husband, Winston. They were married April 19, 1941 and later moved to Sheldon where they operated the S & M grocery store until opening Marsden's Fairway Foods in Hillsboro in 1958. Gen was a dedicated parishioner of St. Rose of Lima with a deep and abiding faith that guided her life. She was a long time member of the Altar Society and taught catechism for many years. Gen volunteered at the Hillsboro Nursing Home for over a decade and was an active member in her community. She approached life with great optimism and brought much joy to her family and friends. Her kindness and generosity touched many and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her sons, Gary (Jane), St. Cloud, MN, Thomas (Nancy) Fargo, ND, Bruce, Fargo, ND and daughter Joan, Seattle, WA. Grandchildren Steven, Jennifer, Patrick, and Katie. Great grandchildren Matthew, Michael and Harper. Preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Leona, husband Winston and brothers Frank, Teophil, Arnold, and Eugene. We thank the wonderful care givers at Hillsboro and Bethany Nursing Homes and Hospice Red River Valley. Memorials are preferred to the Hillsboro Nursing Home.
