Gerald Schill

gerald schill
Gerald Dominic Schill, 72, of Fargo passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Gerald was the first of five children, born to Eileen and Stanley Schill, on October 4, 1942 in the rural Langdon area. It was this time on the farm that his strong work ethic was fostered. In February of 1963 he met Ruth Adrian and, as the saying goes, the rest is history. On July 1, 1964 they were joined in marriage. Over the next 50 years Gerald held many titles but none as important as ‘Father’. Gerald and his wife made their home and raised their family in the Langdon/Munich area until 1991 when they moved to Fargo. Gerald was employed by Dow Services working in the Pioneer Mutual Life Building doing miscellaneous maintenance for Blue Cross & Blue Shield and other businesses in the building. Gerald spent his free time attending the activities of his family, even if it was not first on his list. His exterior may have been gruff, however, inside was a soft gentle man. He was a very simple man that wanted very little from life other than happiness for everyone he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth; his children:  Bonnie Zettler of Bismarck, ND; Dessarae (Scott) Langton of Crary, ND; Ardean (Katie) Schill of Marion, IA; Geraldine (Jeri) Drader of Mandan, ND; Chad (Jen) Schill of Argusville, ND; Evan Schill (Tiffany) of Fargo, ND; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Darlene Girodat of Langdon, ND; and brother Ronald (Lenna) Schill of Maida, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Allen; sister Lois Benoit; brothers-in-law Clifford Girodat, Robert Benoit, Loyegene Adrian, James Adrian, and sisters-in-law Velva Schmiess and Kathy Schill. Services will be held at Boulger Funeral Home, 123 10th Street South, Fargo, ND 58103 at 2:00pm on Saturday, June 20, 2015 with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M.

  5. My deepest sympathys to the Schill family, I always remembertheyears that your family lived on the Knudson Farm, and the Auction preparing when you left the area, moving that trailerhouse into town for the sale. Ardean and Geraldine became good friends with me, and I enjoyed having Ardean helping me on the farm as he was like a little brother to me, such great times.

  12. Dear Ruth, Rodney and I want to express our sympathy to you and your family. Gerald was a very kind and gentle man. Always did a good job. Sincerely, JoAnn and Rodney

  13. Gerald (Dada (as we used to call him lovingly); which means Grand Father in Hindi) was a very hard working, loving, and caring human being. We were a bunch of guys who were always creating trouble for Dada and Dadi (Dadi means Grand Mother) and they were always there to help us. We always used to see Dada working hard, taking care of his responsibilities and enjoying all the stuff that he used to do.

It is sad to know about his demise 🙁 He was very close to our heart. We will always miss him!

I will keep him in my prayers. I am sure God is taking good care of him.

    -Aman
