Geraldine Foerster
September 16, 1920 ~ March 7, 2015
Geraldine Elizabeth Foerster, 94, of Fargo, died March 7, 2015, at her home, surrounded by her family and assisted by Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Gerry was born on the family farm in Walsh County on September 16, 1920, to Francis and Elizabeth (Malone) Fee where she grew up as one of eleven children.
Gerry married Max Foerster on November 5th, 1945. They made their home in Grand Forks, ND, until 1956, when they moved to Fargo, ND. Gerry was active in the Holy Spirit Catholic Church’s Altar Society and in several veterans’ auxiliaries, but her main activity was caring for her 8 children. She spent her days baking (her famous apple pie and chocolate chip cookies), cooking, chauffeuring, cheering, and encouraging each of them. The car was always busy, going from one school or activity to another. After Max retired they moved to 2nd Crow Wing Lake near Park Rapids, Minnesota. They enjoyed many years there, fishing and relaxing with the children and grandchildren.
Gerry and Max moved back to Fargo in 1993 but spent time travelling to see family. Gerry was happiest in her condo, hosting holiday dinners, watching the Twins and the Vikings (until Farve), and having a weak brandy while watching Jeopardy and the evening news. One of her favorite things was celebrating St. Patrick’s Day by dressing in green and wearing her “100% Irish” pin.
Geraldine is survived by her sister, Pat Jensen, and 8 children and their families: Cheryl (John) Martinetto and their children Lisa (Dave Whitehill) Martinetto and Jason (Jennifer Walden) Martinetto. Paul (Donna Wong) Foerster and son Steve Schoetthe. Ginger Foerster and her daughter Gia (Alice Strebeck) Gilk. Fred (Barbara) Foerster and their children Shane (Melanie), and Tiffany (Dennis) Robinson. Michael (Stacy Fortner) Foerster and their daughter Melainey. Patrick (Janet) Foerster and their son Jason Anderson. Michelle Buckingham and her son, Evin (Fiancée Kayla Kelly). Sheila (William) Maher and their children Cody (Kim Larson), Nicole (Jon) Edwards, Colleen, and Anthony (Brittany) Maher
Gerry is also survived by great-grandchildren: Caden, Jaden, Maxim, Quincee, Wyatt, Sloan, Layona, Kamryn, Carter, Cohen, Henry and Buddy, Jr. (coming soon).
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Max Foerster, her parents, Elizabeth and Francis Fee, 9 brothers and sisters, sons-in-law Kenneth Gilk and Michael Buckingham, and grandchildren Allison Buckingham and Damien Foerster.

Best MOM ever!!
What wonderful neighbors when I was just a baby and such great friends later in life. Geraldine was such a wonderful woman and great mother.

What a blessing she has been to my family since we moved in across the hall. When Mom was going through her cancer treatments, Gerry took care her. She made sure she ate, got her to appointments if I couldn’t get there and was the best friend my Mom could have asked for. When Mom passed, and my daughter and I moved into the condo, she was there for us too. I will miss her terribly. Welcome to Heaven Gerry!

I was very sorry to read about the death of your mom. My condolences to you and all of your family. I know how difficult it is to lose those significant people in your life. She certainly left quite a legacy with all the children and grandchildren. I know you will have many memories to share as you celebrate her life.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this, knowing the sorrow that has come in to your life.
We were next door neighbors in Grand Forks, many years ago. I am glad I got to see Geraldine
in the more recent years at a party at Cheryl’s. Prayers for all of you as you mourn the loss of
this dear Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma.
Hello to the Foerster Family–
I’m sure I speak for the rest of my 7 siblings when I say our thoughts are with you. Each Christmas your mom and my mom would keep each other up to date on the “kids.” When Mom told me last week of your mom’s passing, while we were sad, we talked of many fun and important times that our families shared together growing up on 14 1/2 street. A story Mom repeated many times over the years was the time your mom ran over to our house to tell mom to turn on the tv because President Kennedy had been shot. They shared significant times in their lives.
