Gilman ?Gil? Olson, age 90, died Monday, June 19, 2006, at Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Gilman ?Gil? Olson was born August 5, 1915 on a farm near Epping, ND. He grew up there and graduated from high school in Epping. After school he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps in Arkansas. He then moved to Fargo. He attended Interstate Business College in Fargo and graduated with a degree in accounting. He worked for Herbst Department Store in Fargo and Cargill in Minneapolis, MN in the accounting department. He then worked as a mail carrier for the Fargo Post Office. During World War II, Gil joined the Navy and served as Chief Petty Officer in the Seabee?s. He served from November 25, 1942 until his discharge on October 29, 1945. He was stationed in Maine, California, the Philippines and New Guinea. After the war he returned to Fargo. He worked for the Fargo Post Office as a postal VOMA (Vehicle Operations Maintenance Administrator.) Gil and Wanda (Abbott) Jellison were married on August 21, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN. He retired in 1980. He enjoyed bowling, golf, exercising and travel in the US and abroad. He will always be remembered for his smile and his kindness. Gil is survived by his wife, Wanda, Fargo, ND; daughter, Arlene (Dale) Benson, Minneapolis, MN; stepdaughter, Judy (Rick) Johnson, Dallas, TX; stepsons, David (Susan) Jellison, Minneapolis, MN and Paul (Laure) Jellison, Dallas, TX; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
