Buck passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2011at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 85.

Galen (Buck) Jeffers was born on October 29, 1925 in Blanchard, ND, the son of Wilson and Ruth (Stockmoe) Jeffers.  He was baptized at Blanchard Lutheran Church and attended school in Hunter and Hillsboro.  He later joined the army and served his country in World War II.  He was also a member of the National Guard.

In 1948 Buck married Isabelle Moen and they raised five children, besides being in the construction business.

Buck also served as assistant fire chief and later as fire chief in Hillsboro.  He was President of Jaycees and a life time member of the Civic and Commerce Club.  Buck was an essential part in getting and building the golf course in Hillsboro.

Buck was an avid supporter of the Hillsboro Burros and loved all sports.  He was the manager of the 1960 Legion Baseball Team that went on to be state champions.

Galen is survived his wife, Isabelle; his three daughters, Vicki (Mark) Madsen of Hillsboro; Ann (Tom) Klemetson of Hillsboro; and Laurie (Dean) Olson of Fargo; and two sons, Barry Jeffers of Apache Junction, AZ; and Randy Jeffers of Fargo. Also surviving are his sister, Connie (Roger) Anderson of rural Hillsboro; his nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and 2 sisters, Marvel Jean and Geraldine.
