Glenda Smith

Glenda Ann Smith, 69 of Cummings (Hillsboro), ND died Friday, April 29^th peacefully in her home in Detroit Lakes.

She was born on September 22, 1942 to Glenn and Grace Porter of Grandin, ND.  She grew up on their family farm and later graduated from Crookston High School.  On June 29, 1961 she married Gary Dean Smith in Buxton, North Dakota.  Together they operated a small grain and dairy farm East of Cummings, North Dakota until they retired in 2005. 

 Over the years Glenda was active as a 4-H leader, and in Homemakers.  She had a love for hand crafts and quilting and enjoyed her time working with others on projects in the community.  She served as Secretary for the Traill County Weed board for many years.  She was named Traill County Woman of the Year in 1988.  Glenda greatly loved time at their lake home with family and sitting on the deck enjoying the scenic view of the lake.

 Glenda was a wonderful mother and grandmother and words don't express how much she will missed by us all.

 Glenda is survived by her father Glenn Porter of Fargo, her siblings: Donald (Mary) Porter of Harwood, Teresa Radcliffe of Fargo.  Her children: Laurie (Brad) Krause of West Fargo, Randall (Colette) Smith of Hillsboro, Jeffery (Sarah) Smith of Alexandria, Aimee (Michael) Smith-Bishop of Hillsboro.  Grandchildren, Patrick, Adam, Kailey, Brianna, Jacob, Tyler and Paige. Glenda is preceded in death by her husband (Gary Smith), mother (Grace Porter), sister (Kathie Olson), and grandson (Justin Krause).
