Harold "Dick" Rachow Hillsboro, North Dakota Harold "Dick" Rachow passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2005, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home at the age of 77. Harold John Rachow was born on October 15, 1927, in Bohnsack Township, Traill County, ND, the son of Richard and Dorothea (Siegert) Rachow. He was baptized on October 18, 1927, into the Lutheran faith and was confirmed on May 24, 1942. He was a life long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Harold grew up on the family farm and attended Bohnsack Consolidated School. He was united in marriage to Doris Drees in Grand Forks, ND, on August 30, 1953. They farmed near Hillsboro until 1977 when he retired and they moved into Hillsboro. In 1980, he was elected to the Hillsboro City Commission and served 14 years as water commissioner and 4 years as Mayor. Harold is survived by his wife Doris of Hillsboro; his 5 children, Michael of Corcoran, MN; Mark of Fargo, ND; Scott (Jen) of Columbia, MO; Laurie Rachow of Moorhead, MN; and Karen (Michael) Maassel of Fargo, ND; 4 grandchildren, Patrick, Megan, and Benjamin Maassel and Zeke Rachow; 2 step granddaughters, Heather Mejias and Samantha (John) Defere; 2 step great granddaughters, Nique and Lexi Mejias; and his sister, Betty (Robert) Oslund of Silver Bay, MN. Harold was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Raymond and John Rachow.
